We've been waiting a long time for answers to our questions. This morning in Brossard, at practice, the Canadiens practiced their two powerplay waves as well as their two shorthanded waves. Here's what they came up with, courtesy of Patrick Guillet.
We're working on the 2 powerplay units.
PP1: Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky-Bolduc-Hutson PP2: Laine-Dach-Demidov-Gallagher-Dobson Here's what looks like the 2 power play units PK1: Evans-Anderson-Matheson-Guhle PK2: Kapanen-Newhook-Carrier-Xhekaj… pic.twitter.com/pSXsW63mNV– Patrick Guillet (@PatGuillet) October 7, 2025
Note that the club's first line was with Lane Hutson and Zachary Bolduc on the first wave. Bolduc with the Nick Suzuki gang is probably the biggest surprise, but I like it. #GoodShotThat must mean that the second wave is good… and the first better perform to get some playing time. NoahDobson, Patrik Laine and Ivan Demidov, all candidates for the first wave, are on the second unit. Brendan Gallagher and Kirby Dach are also on the second unit. Did we want to spread out the forces? Keep the snipers on different waves? Possibly.
QUESTION OF THE DAY | OCTOBER 7, 2025
Patrik Laine will start the season on the wing of the 4th line. Do you think this is a good decision or a mistake? Why – The Sick Podcast with Tony Marinaro (@thesickpodcasts) October 7, 2025
The other eight skaters who will play tomorrow have been practicing at a numerical disadvantage. Jake Evans and Josh Anderson were with Mike Matheson (no longer playing on the powerplay, for now) and Kaiden Guhle.Oliver Kapanen, Alex Newhook, Alexandre Carrier and Arber Xhekaj were in the second wave.
'Overtime'
– Of note.At the end of practice, we seem to be working a 5-on-3 powerplay unit.
Caufield, Suzuki, Demidov, Laine and Dobson face Matheson and 2 coaches Alex Burrows and Adam Nicholas.Interesting….
