Scott Mellanby considered for Flyers president's job

Since resigning from his position with the Habs in 2021, a few days before Marc Bergevin’s dismissal, Scott Mellanby has been looking for a strong head on the Bettman staff. Mellanby, who was Bergevin’s right-hand man for eight years, was promised the position of GM of the CH at the time, and Geoff Molson’s about-face didn’t sit well with him. He clearly believes in his chances and his ability to manage a team, and is desperate to take the plunge.

Chicago, San Jose, Vancouver… Mellanby has been part of several hiring processes, without ever landing the coveted job. He spent the season as a consultant in St. Louis.

Now, the former Tricolore assistant GM could be a name to watch in the race to become president of the Philadelphia Flyers.

We learned two weeks ago that Scott Mellanby would be interviewed by the organization, and Elliotte Friedman recently confirmed that his candidacy was serious by naming him among the names likely to get the job.
