Cole’s brother Brock Caufield to sign contract with Leafs organization

The 2022-2023 season marked Cole’s brother Brock Caufield’s last year on the NCAA circuit.

Brock played five years at Wisconsin and has become a leader of the team in recent campaigns. He’s worn an A on his jersey at times over the past two years, demonstrating his leadership qualities.

He may only have scored 23 points (11 goals) in 36 games during the 22-23 season, but he played an important role in his team’s success, so much so that he was named the Badgers’ MVP.

In a recent article, I wondered whether the Canadiens should give him a chance to shine within the organization. Obviously, the scenario won’t materialize tomorrow…

Because Brock seems to have agreed on the terms of a two-part AHL contract with the CH’s foe.

I mean the Toronto Leafs. This information is reported by Jacob Stoller, a columnist for “The Hockey News”:

Brock Caufield may never play in the NHL. But, admittedly, it would be special to see Cole and his big brother face off at some point…

Especially if the CH and Leafs don’t like each other on the ice.

Brock’s NCAA stats may not look great on paper, but that doesn’t mean he won’t have a great career. Whether in North America or Europe.

I can’t wait to see what happens next for him. He’ll have to work hard to get to the best field hockey league on earth, but nothing’s impossible.

After all, Alex Belzile scored his first NHL goal at the age of 31. I’m not taking anything away from the Quebecer, we agree on that. But it’s a fine example of how nothing can be taken for granted for a young player like Brock Caufield, who celebrated his 24th birthday in March.
