Last night in Kanata, Brady Tkachuk made his return to the Senators' home arena.
As you know, the former Senators captain asked to be traded after eight years with the team, and the team's fans didn't exactly take it well.
You can understand why.
Last night's game, in which the Sens dominated the Panthers (and Brady Tkachuk scored), saw fans boo a player in a way I've rarely seen before.
This meant that Sens fans—who aren't known as the best fans in the world due to their occasional lack of passion—earned some brownie points last night.
Tip of the cap to Ottawa Senators fans last night—you were awesome.
One of the liveliest games at the CTC I've ever seen.

Because, in reality, it wasn't just that the fans booed Tkachuk—it was mainly that the quality of the insults went beyond mere booing of the player. That's what comes to mind this morning.
They were creative. And even though Tkachuk had every right to ask to be taken out, the fans had every right to tell him he was a coward for jumping ship.
All this to say that Brady Tkachuk, who has a reputation for not being the sharpest tool in the shed, was booed loudly from start to finish.
He was told to get lost, told he couldn't read, had people yell that he ate pencils, was asked who his father was, and saw his podcast ridiculed.

It's also worth noting that Tim Stutzle's personal chef (a player who wasn't at the restaurant dinner with Tkachuk on Tuesday night because he has a chef at home) also chimed in on Instagram.
He simply said that the Panthers player should have let him cook for him, too.
Tim Stützle's personal chef Michael Hauschild had a simple message for Brady Tkachuk following the Sens' 5-1 win over the Panthers.

In a Nutshell
– Today's practice is at 11:30 a.m.
The Canadiens will practice at 11:30 a.m. today in Brossard before flying to Chicago, where they will face the Blackhawks Friday night (8 p.m., TSN2, RDS) to kick off a four-game road trip #Habs https://t.co/IJdEJQ2y61

– Interesting.
3 QUICK THINGS ABOUT THE #CFMTL
1. For now, it's business as usual at the club. Everyone is back in the office, and the coaching staff is getting ready for the 11:30 a.m. practice.
2. The timing of yesterday's loss will have financial consequences: season ticket holders must currently decide whether or not to renew their tickets for next year. And this renewal covers one and a half seasons (24 games). Several people have written to me since last night to say they won't be coming back.
3. Based on what I observed late last night—after speaking with two or three people who were emotionally shaken—only four #CFMTL players remained for the trophy presentation to Forge FC: Jalen Neal, Sebastian Breza, Luca Petrasso, and Samuel Piette (who didn't even play). The others all quickly headed back to the locker room, from what I saw.
In soccer, it's considered good sportsmanship to show class and stay on the field out of respect for the opposing team.
It's worth noting that Jalen Neal left the field limping (but who really cares at this point, right?).

– Oh?
Some teams are calling to express interest in winger Dmitri Voronkov. Not saying he'll definitely be traded, but the CBJ are listening.

– Rick Bowness seems overwhelmed.
New: “I've lost my patience with this. If it keeps up, I'm going to have to bench some guys.”
#CBJ HC Rick Bowness has had enough of the mistakes and penalties. Change is coming, including new lines and power-play units. He also vowed to bench players.
