Last night, Jayden Struble was traded to the Nashville Predators. The defenseman, who has been with Montreal since the 2023-24 season, will continue his career in Tennessee.
That said, in the (very) short term, it's all happening in Ottawa. The Preds are there right now, which allowed Struble to join the team and practice with his new teammates this morning.
And with William Trudeau sidelined by injury, there's (already) a spot waiting for him on the Preds' defensive corps.

But in Montreal, Struble is obviously still the talk of the town. And this morning, in the locker room, there were several examples of that.
Arber Xhekaj, for example, noted that he'll miss one of his good friends (who, ironically, was one of his main rivals for ice time). The two guys were close, and Xhekaj didn't want to see Struble leave.

And Kaiden Guhle, whose return to action tonight likely helped seal the deal yesterday, also showed his support for Struble. The two have often traveled together over the past few years.
Guhle also noted that the team had dinner with Struble yesterday before he left. Clearly, the new Preds player was well-liked in the Habs' locker room.

Martin St-Louis, for his part, mentioned that Struble is a talented guy who will have a great chance to get ice time and prove his worth in Nashville. We know that in Montreal, where there are already quite a few defensemen (especially left-handed ones), it wasn't always easy to give Struble that opportunity.
We'll see if he can make the most of it in Nashville now.
Quick Q&A
– That's right.
I hear you. I know you don't want to hear anything negative about Jakub Dobes.
Nevertheless, his lackluster play in front of the net—both in camp and since the start of the season—has forced Marco Marciano and Martin St-Louis to already adjust their goaltending plan: never before the start of the season had they planned NOT to give him Games #4 AND #5, at home no less.
I know most of you refuse to admit that the Habs are off to a bad start this season, but that's exactly what's happening.
And to get back on track, the Habs' coaching staff is counting on Jacob Fowler today. #Fact

– Simon Edvinsson is less picky than Alexander Nikishin.
Elliotte Friedman: I think [Simon Edvinsson] is more open-minded about where he'd go; Alex Nikishin has made it clear there are places he definitely won't sign with; [Edvinsson] is more open-minded about what he'd consider – DMase Vingan & Daunic (10/8)

– Long absence for Dillon Dube.
St. Louis Blues forward Dillon Dube will miss at least eight weeks after suffering a neck injury Thursday night against the San Jose Sharks.
He will be reevaluated at that time.
