On-ice sessions have begun at the Canadiens' training camp.

Earlier this morning, Chris Kreider was seen playing on a line with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield in Group A of the camp.

The newcomer took the opportunity to impress at the end of practice, by the way:

That said, Group B hit the ice a few minutes after Group A finished practicing, and something immediately caught the eye: Florian Xhekaj was paired with… Josh Anderson, while Phillip Danault played center for the unit.

Big Josh with the Unicorn—that sends a pretty clear message. You wanna piss us off?

We'll find ways to piss you off, too.

It's been an issue for a few years now: the Habs get overpowered—especially once the playoffs roll around—and we've all noticed that the team needs to be bigger and stronger if it really wants to give itself a chance to go all the way.

That's the reality of the NHL these days, after all…

The Canadiens already have several forwards on the roster, but still: Florian Xhekaj needs to seize this opportunity to show management that he deserves his spot.

Because if Florian does things right and ends up in the Habs' lineup on a line with Anderson to start the season… I don't know many people in town who'll complain.

Quick Thoughts

– Um…

– I like that.

– It's up to him now.

– Phew.

– Big scoop from Max!
