There will always be comparisons drawn between Matvei Michkov and Ivan Demidov.

Both players were viewed as top-three picks in their respective drafts, but they both slipped a few spots.

The two talented young Russians have fairly similar on-ice profiles and are one year apart in age, give or take a day. Off the ice, however, there are major differences.

However, the two compatriots often talk to each other, according to what Michkov said in a recent interview that can be heard on Reddit's hockey page.

Michkov also added that the two are very close.

The Philadelphia Flyers forward was mainly talking about how he had been “banned” from trading jerseys with other players.

That didn't stop him from getting jerseys from Alex Ovechkin and Demidov, among others.

Ovechkin even signed his jersey when he gave it to him after a game between the Flyers and the Capitals—even though he knew he couldn't get Michkov's jersey in exchange.

In the video in Russian (translated with English subtitles), you can sense Michkov's frustration with the team's decision preventing him from trading jerseys.

“After the game, Ovechkin came up to me with his jersey, and I couldn't give him mine. I just stood there like an idiot without my jersey, not knowing what to say.” – Matvei Michkov

It's unclear why he isn't allowed to, however.

Nevertheless, he stays in touch with his compatriots, and it's still interesting that he's very close to Demidov, even though they don't really have the same personality types.

Demidov is seen as the smiling young guy who lives and breathes hockey and loves the city where he plays, while already serving as a role model at his age. As for Michkov, he's seen more as the player who's hard to coach, who doesn't seem to make the right decisions, and I don't know if he's really that happy playing in Philadelphia.

In short, the fact that the organization is preventing him from trading jerseys is pretty… weird.
