The Ottawa Senators are looking for a captain.
Will the team find a replacement by the start of the season? It seems likely, considering that the club is no longer in rebuilding mode.
There are already candidates who could adequately replace Brady Tkachuk.
Among the names being mentioned most often are Thomas Chabot (who was considered by the Sens back when Tkachuk negotiated his contract), Jake Sanderson, and Tim Stutzle.
In my view, it should come down to the first two. But it's not up to me to decide.
Except that, apparently, Brad Marchand agrees with me. After all, someone who's always been in the same division as Tim Stutzle doesn't see the forward as a good captain for the Sens at all.
The Panthers player publicly laughed off the idea of #18 wearing the “C” on social media. And let's just say it's causing quite a stir right now.

Whether he's injured or not, Marchand has a reputation for being a trash-talker. And he doesn't need to be on the ice to let loose with some trash talk against his opponents.
That's his job.
But we can all agree that Marchand does have a point. After all, the job is to be the captain of the Ottawa Senators, not the Ontario Diving Club.
Can the forward lead by example and replace a captain who had his flaws but didn't fake falls on the ice for no reason?
I can't wait to see if the Senators' players will pay Marchand a visit during the next matchup between the two teams (if the veteran is healthy, of course) to remind him that his comments won't fly.
If the answer is no… well, that would say a lot about team spirit, let's just say.
In a nutshell
– To be continued.
Loaning a player to a team already stacked with options at midfield—and with no spot in MLS Next Pro… I don't see that scenario playing out.

– Ouch.
That's going to hurt him by the end of the season. https://t.co/2N50o6HnKu https://t.co/ZUc1MRF5ai
