I don't understand why the Red Sox are considering other candidates right now. Because if Cotillo reported it, it must be true—the guy is reliable.

It's understandable that they don't want to remove his “interim” label in the middle of the season. Negotiating in the middle of the season can be a distraction.

But to let it leak that Tracy could lose his job after everything he's done? Because if it's out in the open, that means the info must have leaked…
