Corey Pronman (The Athletic) has been ranking NHL prospects lately.

This morning, he published the results of his work regarding the 2024 draft. And naturally, we wanted to see if it would spark as much discussion as what came out last week.

The rankings are available here, for those interested.

It's worth noting that Macklin Celebrini is, without a doubt, at the top of the rankings. He stands alone in the “elite” category, which is entirely normal and well-deserved.

I don't think this will cause any controversy.

Next, we see that Beckett Sennecke, selected third overall by the Ducks, is ranked just ahead of Ivan Demidov, the Canadiens' pick. They are The Athletic's #2 and #3 picks.

Cole Hutson is ranked #4.

I don't know about you, but I would have ranked Demidov ahead of the Ducks' player. But it's not the end of the world either… and it's no surprise, since the Ducks' player was ahead of the Canadiens' player in the analyst's U23 rankings.

Ultimately, they're both talented guys.

Naturally, when talking about 2024, we're mostly keeping an eye on Michael Hage. Because with Demidov, we had a pretty good idea where he'd end up in the rankings…

The Canadiens' prospect, who will be back in school for the 2026–2027 season, is ranked 24th.

And since he was drafted 21st overall in real life, it's clear that Pronman believes the Canadiens selected Hage higher than they should have.

We can all agree that dropping from 21st to 24th isn't the biggest drop in the world, but still.

Of course, only time will tell whether the Habs were right to draft Hage. If he becomes an excellent player for the team, it will be a very successful draft pick for HuGo.

It's worth noting that, in Pronman's top 86, Tyler Thorpe (from 130th to 47th) moved up in the rankings.
