It seems not everyone agrees with the criticism directed at Mitch Marner!

A guy who hosts a podcast (Buds & Pucks) and has been pretty critical of Marner in his videos received a rather unusual message in his private messages: the Vegas Golden Knights player's security guard decided to get involved.

Of course…

According to what was shared by the Buds & Pucks account on X, Marner's security guard essentially told him he was way off base, and also mentioned that he was making stuff up.

This isn't a joke: Mitch Marner's security guard actually went into the DMs of a guy who talks about hockey to tell him to stop talking about his client.

It's understandable that someone close to Marner wouldn't appreciate seeing the player get criticized… But to go so far as to message someone privately to interfere with what's being said on the podcast—that's pretty unusual.

Right?

When you become a public figure, criticism comes with the territory.

That's the price you pay when you're in the spotlight and making millions of dollars playing hockey.

That said, Marner is one of the NHL's most recognizable players, and whether you like him or not, he's going to face criticism when he has bad games or doesn't give his all on the ice. It's part of the sport, and it's the same in other leagues, too.

But in this case, let's just say the situation is taking a rather… comical turn.

And above all, it shows just how emotionally invested—perhaps a little too much?—some people in a player's inner circle can be in the criticism directed at him.
