Canadiens Training Camps: Here Are All the Key Dates to Keep in Mind

With the end of August approaching, the return of hockey is just around the corner. Remember that the season will start earlier than usual this year, with the Habs kicking off their campaign on September 29 in Toronto.

The team's first game at the Bell Centre will take place a week later, on October 6. The Hurricanes will be in town for the occasion.

This means the team's training camps are just around the corner. And we've just learned the key dates to keep in mind for the coming weeks.

First off, the Habs' rookie camp kicks off on September 9 and runs through September 15.

As for the veterans, the golf tournament will take place on September 14, while training camp will begin two days later, on September 16.

That means there are just over two weeks left before rookie camp gets underway in town. Keep in mind that Michael Hage (NCAA), Alexander Zharovsky (Russia), and Gleb Pugachyov (Russia) will all be absent from that camp.

That said, it also gives us an idea of the potential timelines for the last few issues to be resolved in town. Zachary Bolduc and Arber Xhekaj, for example, will likely want to sign before training camp starts (and even before the golf tournament, to avoid distractions).

Will that happen? Just like with Samuel Montembeault's future, we'll have to wait and see.

As a reminder, at the rookie camp, the Habs' young players will face off against the Jets and the Senators on September 12 and 13 in Gatineau. Then, at the main camp, the team will be split into two smaller groups for split-squad games against the Maple Leafs (September 19) and the Senators (September 26). There will also be the Kraft Hockeyville game against the Senators at the Colisée Vidéotron (Trois-Rivières) on September 21.
