Alex Ovechkin is a good hockey player.

But you can't say he's quite as talented behind the wheel.

The Capitals' captain returned home after his team's season ended, and since the start of the summer, he's racked up 33 traffic violations. And for those wondering: no, that last sentence isn't a typo.

Speeding, illegal use of toll roads, parking violations… there's a bit of everything.

It reminds me of Ilya Kovalchuk, who racked up 210 traffic violations in the span of 16 months in recent years. Clearly, NHL players (the Russians, at least) don't give a shit about traffic laws in Russia… hehe. 

Ovi's 33 fines total 82,000 rubles, which is equivalent to about 1,510 CAD.

Fines aren't very steep in Russia, then. But still: that doesn't excuse Ovechkin for breaking traffic laws so often in such a short period of time.

33 tickets in four months means he was pulled over once every 3–4 days. Nothing less… 

Let's not forget that Ovechkin himself had already admitted to driving (very) fast in the U.S. He notably claimed to have driven over 260 km/h right in downtown Washington, D.C.—which isn't exactly safe either…
