In early July, the New York Islanders gave their fans a month and a few days to design the team's next alternate jersey.
The jersey was unveiled today.
The voting was close, but in the end, the design that led the race throughout the process—chosen from among more than 80,000 entries—ultimately won.

The jersey is really, really beautiful.
And the players can't wait to wear it. Matthew Schaefer, Mathew Barzal, and Bo Horvat, among others, had a message for their fans.

You can really see a quintessential Long Island landmark: the lighthouse.
The designer of this jersey did a great job highlighting the team's official colors, but team staff will make some minor tweaks—particularly to the colors. The finished product will be unveiled very soon, but we can expect a version very similar to this one.
This is the first time an NHL team has asked its fans to decide on the next jersey, and I think the experiment was a success.
In a Nutshell
– Let's see.
I'd watch the Robot Olympics just for stuff like this. https://t.co/2bmt0Wshe2

– Innovative.
On October 28, will you buy $CH on the stock market if Dobes shuts everything down and Caufield starts racking up goals?
A company is trying to bring the performance of all 32 NHL teams to Wall Street.
And that would be unprecedented in professional sports. https://t.co/zEXTwnZZBW

And the home runs keep coming!
