Juraj Slafkovsky is the king of Slovakia!

No joke—we all know how popular this young player is in his home country. He's one of Slovakia's biggest stars, and his achievements certainly don't go unnoticed.

And I'm not just saying that for fun… 

Today, Slaf was named the Slovaks' Player of the Year. He's earned this honor for the third year in a row (and for the fourth time since joining the National League).

Way to go!

Martin Fehérváry and Erik Černák were the other two players in the running for the award.

Not to take anything away from those two guys… but we can all agree it's hard to compare them to Slaf, who is one of the best young players in the National Hockey League and is establishing himself as a true force on the Montreal Canadiens' roster.

Slaf has an edge over the two defensemen, and that's no secret either. 

Still, congratulations to Juraj Slafkovsky because he deserves it, too.

He just had the best season of his (young) career, racking up 73 points in 82 games… and even though his playoff performance was a bit more inconsistent, that doesn't take away from the fact that he's taken his game to the next level.

And that's a good thing.
