We all remember Scott Gomez's time in Montreal with the Canadiens over three seasons between 2009 and 2012.

Gomez arrived in Montreal in the summer of 2009 as part of the famous trade that sent Ryan McDonagh—drafted two years earlier by the Habs—to the New York Rangers.

At the time, there were high hopes for this trade, which ultimately turned out to be a monumental flop.

Indeed, while we all remember Gomez in Montreal today, it's unfortunately not for the right reasons, as he never achieved significant success with the Habs, aside from a strong first season with the team, during which he recorded 59 points in 78 games.

The Mexican-Colombian player, born in Alaska, was mostly the butt of jokes in Montreal due to his 60-game goal drought and more than a year (369 days) without scoring a goal.

From February 5, 2011, to February 9, 2012, Gomez failed to find the back of the net with the Habs, making him the laughingstock of Montreal fans and the media for a very long time.

So Gomez hasn't been forgotten in Montreal, and he, for one, hasn't forgotten his time there either—since leaving, he hasn't wanted to hear a thing about the city.

Indeed, as Richard Labbé explains in the excerpt above on BPM Sports, Gomez never wants to hear about the city or anything related to Montreal again.

Gomez even turned down an interview with Labbé, citing that he wants nothing more to do with Montreal.

The former NHL player hated being laughed at so much in Montreal that he's left with nothing but bad memories and a trauma that's still very much alive.

Honestly, you can understand why—it was truly awful how the fans treated him, laughing and cheering every time he touched the puck, or wearing sombreros at Canadiens games.

It's a period best forgotten for both Gomez and the Canadiens, especially since Ryan McDonagh has gone on to become an excellent defenseman—who, by the way, is still playing in the NHL.
