RUMORS! New stadium in Laval, three additions to the Quebec City roster, and two transfers to CF Montréal

Many of them complained about the quality of the turf.

Nick Razzaghi, head coach of FC Supra, said that the surface at Stade Boréale hindered his team's offensive style of play.

Robert Rositoiu, coach of the Roses, often remarked that fewer goals were scored in Laval because of the playing surface and that the players had to learn their limits on such a field.

Rocco Placentino, president of FC Supra, would grimace every time I asked him about the playing surface at Stade Boréale.

However, I've just learned that the rumor that the synthetic turf at Stade Boréale will be replaced is 100% true. The Roses and Supra will kick off their 2027 season on a brand-new surface.

I'm told that the playing surface at Stade Boréale will be replaced during the offseason. The Roses and the Supra will therefore play their matches on a brand-new synthetic surface starting in early 2027.

Neither the Roses nor the Supra have confirmed the information, but my sources are reliable and numerous.

It will be interesting to see if the surface used will be the one that was installed at the Olympic Stadium… before it closed for major renovations. It was still up for sale just a few weeks ago.

Next issue to tackle at Stade Boréale: the lights. Currently, the lumens aren't strong enough to provide top-quality lighting after sunset. Oddly enough, the Supra's game will be played at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow night…

Rumors in Brief

– The Claude-Robillard Centre won't be ready until 2029. The Supra had hoped to move there before opting for Laval, but it wasn't initially expected to be available until 2028. It'll be interesting to see where the Supra will play in 2028, since its lease with Stade Boréale and the Roses expires in December 2027…

– Quebec City could soon announce the arrival of both a CPL team AND a CFL team. Would these teams play at PEPS while waiting for a new stadium (on the site of the former Colisée) to be ready? The LPHF and the Super Ligue du Nord are also seriously eyeing the provincial capital…

– I'm told that CF Montréal is SERIOUSLY evaluating two offensive players. We could hear news on both of these fronts sooner rather than later.

– Most of the hosts at BPM Sports still don't know what their specific roles will be this fall. The radio season, which aims to prioritize continuity, is set to begin in early September, and from what I'm told, the final schedule should be announced next week. The next few days will be busy.

– Rumor has it that the City of St-Constant may be the next to host a QMJHL franchise. Is this related to the future of the Armada or another franchise? Is this a discussion about a potential expansion? We'll see.

– I'm told to keep an eye out early next week for at least one official announcement from the Canadiens. Zachary Bolduc? Arber Xhekaj? A trade?

– Robert Rositoiu (Roses) still hasn't signed a contract for next year. He's currently playing the final year of his two-year deal. I'm pretty sure that, given his current success, there will be interest in him elsewhere in the SLN or in Europe if he were to leave the Roses. However, I believe that for both parties, reaching a new agreement is still the most logical choice. Stay tuned.
