The time has finally come for Anze Kopitar to retire.

The man who wore the C on his jersey for several years in Los Angeles has played his final NHL game, and now it's time for him to move on to the next chapter of his life.

It's going to feel strange without him on the Kings, but oh well. We'll get used to it!

Over the years, Kopitar has become a legend within the LA organization. He's won Stanley Cups, Selke Trophies, and Lady Bing Trophies… And he's played a total of 1,521 games in a Kings uniform.

The organization has therefore decided to retire Kopitar's jersey, and the ceremony will take place on February 24… when the Canadiens visit Crypto.com Arena for the occasion.

It makes sense that the Kings will retire Kopitar's jersey during the Canadiens' visit.

Because during his last visit to the Bell Centre, earlier this season, Kopitar mentioned that Montreal was his favorite NHL market outside of Los Angeles. He said he always enjoyed his time in the city and that he could have easily seen himself playing in Montreal if it hadn't been for Los Angeles.

So the Kings will give him one last gift… before turning the page on a chapter that has become so important to the organization over the past 20 years.

It's going to be an emotional night for Kings fans, and that's only natural. But I'm convinced that Kings fans will never forget Anze Kopitar… and at the end of the day, that's what matters.

I can't wait to see the reception he'll get.
