Aside from the trade that sent Brendan Gallagher to Vancouver, the Habs haven't made any major external trades or signings this summer.

I specifically say “external signings” because, internally, Ivan Demidov extended his contract for eight seasons.

Aside from that deal, Kent Hughes has kept a low profile, even though he's had a hand in just about every situation. Despite everything, fans and Sportsnet have been pleased with the team's offseason. While Sportsnet's Ryan Dixon gave Kent Hughes a B, fans believe Montreal is among the teams that have improved the most.

In fact, 3% of fans who responded to The Athletic's poll believe that Montreal was the team that improved the most. 3% isn't necessarily a lot, but it's good enough for 7th place, tied with the Ducks.

Many of those same fans also chose Quebec City as the city they'd most like to see return to the NHL.

The team's major trades this summer were for depth players in the AHL, such as Brett Berard, Hunter McKown, Sasha Pastujov, and Maksymilian Szuber. Has Brendan Gallagher's departure improved the team that much?

Fans are also optimistic about the Habs' chances of winning the Stanley Cup. 6% of the 19,092 respondents believe Montreal will win the Cup in 2027. That puts them in 5th place, tied with the Oilers.
