David Savard won’t be making the trip to Buffalo

Let’s talk about David Savard for a moment.

For the past few days, we’ve been feeling that his return to the game is increasingly imminent. From the looks of things, he’s clearly just a few days away from taking to the ice again in a game.

For the past few practices, the Quebecer has been on the ice with the others.

That said, you know as well as I do that a guy with a sore hand (he’s recovering from a fracture) has to take the time to train properly before coming back. He needs to be able to play without pain. And obviously, we’re not there yet.

According to what the Habs have just announced, the Quebec defenseman won’t be making the (short) trip to Buffalo today. He has not yet received the green light from the doctors to return to the scene of the crime.

Because yes, that’s where he was injured in October.

Remember that the CH will travel to Buffalo for tomorrow’s game… before returning to Montreal for Sunday night’s game against Nashville at 7pm. Yes, a game on a Sunday night is weird.

Savard did train this morning, though. A few guys jumped on the ice for an optional workout.

All three goaltenders were on hand, and according to the Habs, Jake Allen received shots from Mitchell Stephens. He was supervised by goalie coach Eric Raymond.

Will he get the start tomorrow in Buffalo? We’ll have to wait and see, but it’s possible. After all, Samuel Montembeault has played the last two games.

Extension

– One thing’s for sure: the goalie who plays tomorrow, whoever he or she may be, won’t be wearing such a mask.
