According to Elliotte Friedman, we should expect a bridge contract for Trevor Zegras
Some young players will be future restricted players in the summer of 2024, and some are still looking for a contract extension.

This is the case for Trevor Zegras, superstar of the Anaheim Ducks, whose discussions don’t seem to be leading to a long-term contract.

In their most recent episode of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek gave some progress on this issue.

According to the renowned Sportsnet insider, we should expect a bridge contract for the Ducks’ number 11.

At 5:00 of the episode, Friedman discusses the Zegras case and makes some interesting points.

First, he points out that Zegras is not only a star across the league, but also an idol for many young field hockey fans.

His electrifying style of play and skill with the puck make him one of the best puck wizards in the NHL.

Lately, we’ve been able to observe, via TikTok videos, that Zegras is currently in a relationship with TikTok and Instagram star Dixie D’Amelio.

Given Zegras’ popularity among young people, the combination of Zegras and D’Amelio, who is extremely popular among young people, makes for a good mix.

Indeed, D’Amelio has over 57 million followers on Tiktok, and Zegras has already been featured several times on this platform.

Zegras’ popularity is set to soar, as we can expect his new girlfriend to be present at the majority of his matches, and she’ll take full advantage of the opportunity to publish content.

In the short term, this is a good thing for Anaheim, as the salary for a bridge contract is generally not very high. At least, it will be lower than a long-term contract in Zegras’ case.

However, when we look at the long-term situation, Trevor Zegras’ clan is at an advantage, as his bridge contract should be for two or three years, and the American will be able to move to the bank.

We can’t put an approximate salary on Zegras’s next contract, but we can expect it to be close to $8 million per season.

Again, this is just a guess on my part, we’d better wait to see the real amount.
