John Gibson: his agent says Frank Seravalli spread a false rumour
Frank Seravalli is not looking so good at the moment. The popular NHL tipster has just been put in his place by the agent of Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson.

In fact, Seravalli explained on the Nasty Knuckles podcast that Gibson “wouldn’t play another game with the Ducks”. Here’s the clip in question.

We all agree that this is big news that every sports journalist would love to reveal to the public. Except this time, it’s not true at all.

John Gibson’s agent, Kurt Overhardt of KO Sports Inc., issued a statement Monday evening, explaining that Seravalli had spread a false rumour and that Gibson remains loyal to the Anaheim Ducks.

This is very bad publicity for Seravalli.

On the other hand, I think Seravalli probably said a bit too much in trying to report the real news. Relying on the press release, we realize that Gibson’s agent doesn’t rule out the possibility that his client has requested a trade.

Seravalli’s statement that Gibson doesn’t want to play another game in Anaheim was the one too many.

The Ducks are giving away far too many shots and going nowhere. Gibson has probably had enough and would like to go elsewhere, but not to the point of not playing a single game with the Ducks.

Gibson has often had to deal with avalanches of shots, as on February 25, when the Hurricanes lost 3-2 to the Ducks, even after firing 53 shots at Gibson.

You have to be careful what you say. Seravalli’s reputation has just taken a hit, and his sources may become more reluctant to give him information.
