Top-5: Frustrated by a referee’s call, André Tourigny pretends to be blind
It was a relatively busy night in the NHL on Tuesday, with eight games on the schedule.

Let’s start with the scores of the games on the Bettman circuit:

1: Nothing goes right for the Senators

The Sens hosted the Colorado Avalanche last night.

It was a good test for Jacques Martin’s men… And they didn’t answer the call.

In fact, the Senators started the game well: they led 4-2 at one point in the second period, but that’s when the chain came completely off the hook.

The Avalanche scored five unanswered goals to escape with the win (7-4)… Which means that the Sens have won just one of their last seven games, a victory over the poor San Jose Sharks.

It should also be noted that the Ottawa club has a 4-9-0 record since Jacques Martin took over.

That’s tough.

In his club’s victory, Jonathan Drouin (who is enjoying a fine sequence) was cleared from the scoresheet.

Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen picked up two points each.

2: Crazy match-up between the Oilers and Leafs

At first glance, the duel between the Leafs and Oilers looked like it was going to be a good game, because we’re talking about two of the best offensive teams in the league.

And that’s exactly what happened.

The Leafs scored the first two goals of the game, courtesy of Auston Matthews and Morgan Rielly…

But then the Oilers woke up with Leon Draisaitl’s goal, which reduced the Leafs’ lead to just one small goal:

The Oilers never looked back in the game and were able to get back into the game.

Derek Ryan scored early in the third period to tie the game… And late in the game, Ryan McLeod played the hero with the winning goal :

Evan Bouchard completed the scoring in an empty net to help his club win their eleventh consecutive game.

Things are going really well for the Oilers right now. It’s nice to see, after the difficult start to the season they’ve had.

3: André Tourigny ridicules referees

André Tourigny is quite a character.

The Arizona Coyotes pilot has a special way of coaching his club, and the guys like him because he’s down-to-earth with everyone.

He’s not afraid to speak his mind, and that makes him an entertaining coach behind the Coyotes bench.

His club was in Calgary yesterday to contest victory over the Flames, and Tourigny pulled out a gem.

In the first period, the referees awarded Alex Kerfoot a penalty for using his hand to win a face-off… But when the play resumed, we realized that Kerfoot did what he had to do and didn’t use his hand in the end.

Tourigny wasn’t happy, and he let the officials know by claiming he was blind.

A funny moment, I must admit :

Nothing to help the coach’s mood: the Coyotes finally lost in overtime by a score of 3-2.

A tougher night at the office for André Tourigny.

4: The Sharks are the Sharks again

It started very, very badly for the Sharks at the beginning of the season, but they found a way to briefly turn things around.

I say briefly, because right now… things aren’t looking good in San Jose.

The club lost to the Chicago Blackhawks last night… And has now won just one of its last 16 games.

Since the start of the campaign, in 45 games played, the Sharks have won just 10.

We knew it was going to be tough for the team this season… But they’re reaching a level of mediocrity that’s quite obvious.

It’s flat for the fans.

5: A battle of wits between Jarred Tinordi and Scott Sabourin

Fights aren’t as popular as they used to be in the National Hockey League.

The mentality has changed… so much so that you don’t see guys throwing down the gloves on a consistent basis.

That said, last night we were treated to a real battle of wits between Scott Sabourin and Jared Tinordi.

It’s been a long time since we’ve witnessed such an intense battle in the NHL:

– The Montreal team won last night. Marie-Philip Poulin scored the winning goal.

– The Caps manage without the services of their captain.

– Whew.

– I didn’t know Connor Hellebuyck was Michael Pezzetta’s cousin… Hehe.

– A beautiful goal, too.

– Pardon?

– Ayoye!

– Logan Cooley scored his 4th goal of the season.

– Blake Coleman is on fire.

– Few would have predicted the Jets would be this good.

– It’s not looking good for the Islanders.

– Bravo!
