Crowd bath for Samuel Montembeault, before the @Lions3r game in Trois-Rivières.
We talked about it on @5a7RDS earlier…and also about a nice GoFundMe to honor the #CHs goalie: https: //t.co/x7Jl7SaYb7 pic.twitter.com/OrvzInOEjq

After a tough loss to the San Jose Sharks last night, Samuel Montembeault returned to Trois-Rivières this afternoon. Not because he was traded to the Lions, but because he has a home there and will be at the team’s game tonight.
And as Luc Gélinas tells us in the tweet above, a GoFundMe has been set up by Bécancour resident Éric St-Louis, who is also the project’s organizer.
The aim of the project is to honor Montembeault with an honorary sign at the entrance to the town. Mr. St-Louis has set the GoFundMe amount at $8,000 based on comparisons, but he hasn’t yet obtained the estimates.
It’s a great project, thanks to the residents. By the way, for those who want to contribute, here’s the link. At the time of writing, just over $3,000 has been raised for a guy who’s not afraid to remind us of his origins, even though he’s now known throughout North America and is the number-one goalkeeper for one of the most prestigious organizations in the sports world.
TVA Sports took advantage of Monty’s visit to Trois-Rivières to ask him a question. Jean-Charles Lajoie naively asked him if he was going to come back to Montreal after the Lions game, or if he was going to sleep at home in Trois-Rivières.
Here’s the Montreal goalie’s answer:
I’ll be back tonight to rest up for tomorrow’s game. – Samuel Montembeault
The Quebecer didn’t confirm that he’d be on the starting line-up against Connor McDavid and his team, but he did give one hell of a clue. As a good journalist and host, Lajoie noticed the goalie’s subtlety. Embarrassed, the latter said that’s not what he said, but I find that hard to believe.
One thing’s for sure, no matter who’s in net tomorrow, he’ll have a tough task stopping a team that’s won its last nine games.
