Top-5: Golden Knights lose for the first time, laughing at Connor Bedard
Last night, in the Bettman circuit, six games were on the menu. There were a few eye-catching duels, with some good players in action for our entertainment.

Here are the highlights.

1. Connor Bedard inflicts first setback on Golden Knights

Connor Bedard is a young man in demand. Everyone wants to see what he can do, and every time he comes to town, the fans want to see him.

And let’s just say, in Vegas, he gave Golden Knights fans their money’s worth.

It was the first time an 18-year-old had scored in each of his first two games against the club that had just won the Stanley Cup the year before.

That’s still something.

The Knights later retaliated on Twitter by mentioning that Bedard may have scored, but he couldn’t go out and enjoy the city by going to the casino.

Shane Pinto says- ah pis laissez faire.

But what I remember most is that the Hawks won in overtime (4-3) against Vegas. Philipp Kurashev’s goal gave the Knights their first setback of the season.

No team remains unbeaten in the Bettman circuit this season.

2. Big comeback for the Kings

The Los Angeles Kings took on the Arizona Coyotes yesterday. The game took place in the desert, and the many fans in attendance were treated to quite a comeback.

With André Tourigny’s Gary Bettman’s favorite university team leading 4-1, Drew Doughty took matters into his own hands. The veteran scored twice in his side’s final 25 minutes to orchestrate a comeback.

Basically, the Coyotes had taken a three-goal lead (4-1) in the first period. The fact that Doughty, Quinton Byfield and Anze Kopitar replied to tie the game showed the club’s strength of character.

And it was Doughty who put the finishing touches to make it 5-4 with less than two minutes left in the game.

Obviously, a comeback from 4-1 to 5-4 shows the club’s strength of character. That said, we’re not talking about a 5-0 to 6-5 comeback where Alex Kovalev scored the tying goal and finished with all four irons in the air.

Nice try, though.

3. Nico Hischier injured

The New Jersey Devils and the Buffalo Sabres crossed swords. And let’s just say, on this Halloween Friday, the Devils had a scare. Despite a 5-4 victory.

But why? Because captain Nico Hischier was the victim of a blow that had the club’s fans holding their breath. Connor Clifton didn’t hold back…

Clifton will be given a hearing for his actions, and the Devils took him out of the game as a precaution.

And he’s not the only player to be injured. Sabres goalie Eric Comrie left the game and hasn’t returned. Good thing the club has three goalies, huh?

Finally, Jack Hughes, recognized as one of the best in his profession, scored. With five goals and 13 assists in seven games (18 points), he leads the NHL.

The Devils are driving with him.

4. Hat trick in 3-0 victory

In the game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the San Jose Sharks, Teuvo Teravainen was in fine form. The Canes player scored a hat trick in a 3-0 win.

Do the math and you’ll see that he didn’t steal his first star.

All three goals were scored in much the same way: Teravainen was on the same side of the goal and took a good shot. Former Canadian Sebastian Aho has two assists in the game, by the way.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi, who has made a strong start to the season and is still his team’s leading scorer, did not get a point.

5. Quinn Hughes has fun against the Blues

Yesterday, the Vancouver Canucks scored five times against St. Louis without seeing Thatcher Demko allow a single goal in the process. They won, if you followed correctly, 5-0.

Captain Quinn Hughes, who was in resplendent form, scored two goals.

Elias Pettersson (two assists) and J.T. Miller (three points, including a goal) were the only other players with more than one point. So that was a team contribution all round.
