Canadiens fans quickly fell in love with Ivan Demidov.

And rightly so, you might say… because it's been a long time since we've seen such an electrifying player in Montreal.

The good news? We'll get to see him on the ice at the Bell Centre for many years to come because the young player signed an eight-year contract extension this summer. He's now under contract with the Habs through the end of the 2034–2035 season!

In an interview in Russia, his agent, Dan Milstein, said the player was really happy with his contract. He's secured his financial future and will have the opportunity to play for a top NHL team for years to come.

But Milstein also revealed that Demidov has decided to distance himself from the media to focus solely on hockey. According to his agent, he no longer speaks to the Russian media:

His job is to play hockey, not to read articles about himself. That's why he's completely distanced himself from the media; we don't see or hear from him in the Russian media. – Dan Milstein

Interesting, isn't it?

We didn't see Demidov speak to reporters very often last season.

But that's somewhat understandable: the young player had just arrived in North America and is still getting used to the language. The Canadiens didn't want to put him in front of the media every day to protect him, and that's fine, too.

That said, it's interesting to note that he's cut ties with the media in Russia.

The young player really wants to focus on what's happening here in Montreal… and it seems like he wants to put his efforts where they count. He avoids distractions, he plays hockey, and that really seems to make him happy, too.

All the better, then.
