For the past ten games, Nick Suzuki has been playing like a true #1 center.
Nick Suzuki is in his fifth season in the National Hockey League.

Year after year, we notice his progression on the ice. It’s also the same when you look at these offensive numbers:

  • 2019-2020: 41 points in 71 games
  • 2020-2021: 41 points in 56 games
  • 2021-2022: 61 points in 82 games
  • 2022-2023: 66 points in 82 games

Still, it’s interesting to see that he continues to improve offensively. And for the past few games, he’s really been the club’s catalyst.

The captain has 12 points in his last 10 games… But beyond the points, he’s playing like a true #1 center.

He’s really on a roll.

This isn’t the first time the captain has had a good run after a difficult period.

He needs to work on his consistency offensively, because he’s capable of being a productive player in the National League.

We’ve seen that since the beginning of December, after all.

It’s funny… But things have been going really well for Suzuki since Martin St-Louis stirred up his soup by inserting Juraj Slafkovsky on the team’s first trio.

There’s a great chemistry between the guys off the ice and it really shows on the ice. We knew Slaf had the potential to be a dominant player in the NHL and we’re seeing his true colors lately.

If it can last… The Habs have just solved a major problem. They’ve long been looking for the perfect complement to Suzuki and Cole Caufield, and right now, the Slovakian is answering the call and fulfilling all the necessary criteria.

This is great news. And so much the better, really, if it means everyone can take a step.

Returning briefly to Suzuki, it’s interesting to note that he’s producing at a rate of 74 points per season at the moment. He has 30 points in 33 games so far this season, and if he keeps up the pace, he’ll once again break his personal record for points in a single campaign.

When I said at the beginning of this text that we’re noticing his offensive progression, that’s exactly what I meant.
