Today’s piece touches on the latest trade chatter surrounding:
– #GoSensGo & Jakob Chychrun
– #Flames & Weegar, Markstrom, 3 UFAs
– Mrazek & #Blackhawks retaining
– Do #GoKingsGo shift due to skid?
– Zegras & #FlyTogether
– EJ & Olofsson #LetsGoBuffalo https://t.co/y6pfdhALV8– David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) January 15, 2024
And if I told you then that “Mony” would still be with the Montreal Canadiens on January 15, 2024, you’d probably call me crazy.
And rightly so, because we didn’t know much about the forward.
We didn’t know if he was going to be able to stay healthy, and that’s what was “worrying” in the first place. Anyways.
Monahan is still a member of the Montreal organization, but Darren Dreger said last week that the veteran “will be traded sooner rather than later” .
The goal is to allow him to play for a club with Stanley Cup aspirations… And the goal for Kent Hughes is to get the maximum in return for his forward, who has a nice value on the market right now.
At least, I say he’s worth a lot, because according to David Pagnotta, the asking price for his services is quite high:
Monahan’s price (24 points, $1.985 million per season) is a first-round pick or a second-round pick with a prospect. – David Pagnotta
It may seem surprising to some. But Sean Monahan is a seasoned National League veteran, he doesn’t earn an astronomical salary and he’s the perfect player for a club looking to add depth at center.
That said, his experience and maturity make him a (very) reliable player on the ice, which is exactly why he’ll be in demand between now and March 8.
On the other side of the coin, we know that Monahan is important to the Habs and plays a big role in the team’s success. The Habs could be letting go of a player who fits in well with the team’s mentality and is appreciated in the dressing room, which is a shame in a way…
In gusto
– I think so too.
I hope no one boos Drouin tonight. His 6 years here were not a success, he may not have been able to handle the pressure, but he was not malicious towards the Habs and doesn’t deserve hate. Let’s add that the team being constructed poorly didn’t help him succeed like he is now. pic.twitter.com/DcUC4Sh5Dm

– Unbelievable.
This season is not going well for Ovi. The finishing drop-off is pretty astounding. #AllCaps https://t.co/Q1Azzacjde pic.twitter.com/ymzh2BESZz
