Mike Ward situation: La Poche Bleue loses advertising campaign

Last week, you may have heard about an episode of Sous Écoute that was finally pulled from the web by Mike Ward. Here we talk about the episode with the guys from La Poche Bleue, Guillaume Latendresse and Maxim Lapierre.

The behavior of the two men, who were under the influence of alcohol, caused quite a stir.

Very few people managed to see the deleted episode, but those who did know that the dynamic between the two former players and the host during the taping was not optimal.

Mike Ward may have downplayed the incident, and the guys may have apologized, but the subject refuses to leave the news.

And now the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) has added its two cents. How? By ending its collaboration with La Poche Bleue.

As we learned from journalist Geneviève Lajoie, who works for the Journal de Québec, LPB was collaborating with the CCQ on a worker training campaign.

And while many training activities will remain in place as part of the campaign, the link with La Poche Bleue will be severed.

The CCQ recently conducted a survey highlighting the fact that nearly 80% of construction workers do not file complaints in situations of harassment and bullying. Since this must change, remaining associated with Latendresse and Lapierre became illogical.

It’s an issue that we’ve often put forward, that we continue to work on, so for us, it’s really unacceptable to be associated with this type of behavior. – Marie-Noël Deblois, CCQ spokesperson

It’s important to remember that over the past few days, we’ve been talking about the guys’ actions, but without mentioning the impact of their actions on sponsors or partners like the CCQ.

This particular text, concerning their actions, caused quite a stir.

The question now is whether other companies (or groups like the CCQ) will end their association with LPB. Sometimes, all it takes is a gesture to set off a wave.
