Mikhail Sergachev: hateful comments force him to deactivate his Instagram account

There was a time when the Jonathan Drouin/Mikhail Sergachev trade was often mentioned in connection with the Quebec player’s under-performance.

Of course, it was also associated with Sergachev’s performances, as he really came into his own with the Lightning.

It’s much quieter this year with the departure of Drouin, but Mikhail Sergachev isn’t off to a great start.

So much so, that Lightning fans took to social networks to lash out at the 25-year-old defenseman. As a result, Sergachev decided to deactivate his Instagram account.

As for his stats, they’re not catastrophic, but they’re far from up to par. In 16 games, he has no goals and 8 assists. What’s even worse is his -14 differential. It’s cold in his case in Tampa.

It’s worth remembering that the Lightning are without Andrei Vasilevskiy, who underwent surgery for a herniated lumbar disc at the end of September.

Let’s face it, the goalies aren’t up to the task. Jonas Johansson has a 3.47 goals-against average and Matt Tomkins has a 3.40 average.

Still, Sergachev can and must do better. He has the worst differential on the team, far ahead of Darren Raddysh, who is -9.

Overall, the performance of the defensemen is not excellent, while the leader for plus/minus, Victor Hedman, is at +0.

In any case, inappropriate comments will never be tolerated. Yes, you can criticize a player for his performance, but to make it personal is unacceptable. No one should have to shut down their social media for such a reason.
