World Championship: Tyler Toffoli added to Canada’s roster
The World Hockey Championship is fast approaching, with the tournament kicking off on May 12.

With the playoffs underway and many star players resting from their season, Canada’s line-up varies greatly from year to year.

For the 2023 edition, however, Canada seems to have a completely different face than in recent years.

The Canadians will be able to count on a 100% Quebec duo with Devon Levi and Samuel Montembeault.

The line-up is slowly taking shape, as new names have been added to the list.

Among the latest additions is former Tricolore Tyler Toffoli.

Toffoli will also be able to count on his teammate with the Calgary Flames, Milan Lucic, at this World Championship.

According toinsider Darren Dreger, a total of eight players have been added.

Here’s the list.

However, the presence of young goaltender Devon Levi was already confirmed, as was that of teammate Jack Quinn. Journalist covering the Buffalo Sabres Lance Lysowski had reported the news on April 16.

The list would therefore have to be reduced to six new players.

The addition of veteran Milan Lucic and Tyler Myers is surprising, to say the least.

On the one hand, there’s a declining power forward struggling to get on the scoresheet. On the other, there’s a giant-sized defenseman in need of speed, who relies on hard-hitting and often dangerous checking.

Two players who don’t have unanimous support, especially among Montreal Canadiens fans.

I don’t need to remind you of all the trouble Lucic caused when he was in Boston. And let’s not forget the dirty trick Myers pulled on Joel Armia in January 2021.

There are currently seven forwards, three defensemen and two goalkeepers in Canada’s current line-up.

Forwards include Tyler Toffoli, Milan Lucic, Scott Laughton, Jack Quinn, Lawson Crouse, Joe Veleno and Adam Fantilli.

Tyler Myers, MacKenzie Weegar and Ethan Bear are the team’s three quarterbacks, while Devon Levi and Samuel Montembeault are the only two confirmed goalkeepers.

The line-up should be completed in the next few days, so stay tuned.
