DGs have “group chat” and are instantly evicted if they lose their job
This news is really cool.

TSN’s Chris Johnston was on Steve Dangle’s (Sportsnet) podcast to discuss what’s in store for the Leafs in the coming months. With a word about Dubas, who could return as GM next year in Toronto if the organization gives him another vote of confidence, Johnston also talked about the way different NHL GMs communicate.

There is in fact a “group chat” comprising all 32 NHL GMs, a conversation conducted on the WhatsApp platform. The men have the opportunity to discuss possible transactions, and according to Johntson, the guys even make a few jokes in the process.

Where it gets even more interesting is when Johnston states that if the GMs lose their jobs or decide to leave their organization for any reason, they are immediately expelled from the group in question.

The last person to witness this? Brad Treliving of the Flames.

I really wonder how it works when a GM gets “kicked out” of the group. Who takes care of it? Is there a particular “goodbye message” that goes out before the person is kicked out?

I was wandering through the comments on the post above, and some people joked that Lou Lamoriello must be in charge. We all know how special he is.

And I have to admit, the whole thing made me laugh harder than I should have, hehe.

On a more serious note, I think it’s refreshing to see this, and of course, it really is 2023 with today’s technology.

I’d pay good money to see what the DGs are saying to each other, and I’m sure you would too.

Which DG is the most active in the group, do you think?

In brief

– The question arises.

– In the end, he will have played seven NHL games.

– Scottie Scheffler is my favorite for the tournament… And he’s off to a strong start.

– Hey boy!
