With the series between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers now behind us, all eyes in the baseball world are now on the American League Championship Series, featuring the Cleveland Guardians and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Yesterday, the two teams were scheduled to face off at Progressive Field in Cleveland, with the home team leading the series two games to one. However, as is often the case during the postseason and in this part of the country, inclement weather reared its head and prevailed. As a result, the game was canceled and rescheduled for tonight at 8 p.m.

Obviously, this postponement forces a reshuffling of the schedule for upcoming games, and the Brewers certainly won't be complaining, as days off will be fewer and farther between for both American League teams between now and the end of their series.

So, in addition to tonight's game, the Rays and the Guardians will play again on Sunday, October 18, at 5 p.m. Games 6 and 7, if necessary, will take place as scheduled on Monday and Tuesday (8 p.m.).

The World Series, meanwhile, will begin on October 23.

If this series were to go the full seven games, both teams would be in the thick of a real blitz, while the Brewers would be patiently waiting to find out who their next opponent will be.

I don't want to be a prophet of doom, but this final series could very well drag on a bit longer, considering that the Guardians are giving the East Division champions a tougher time than expected.

Stephen Vogt's team took a while to get going in this postseason, but they're currently playing inspired baseball thanks, in part, to their pitching staff and the inspiring play of their leader, Jose Ramirez.

Of course, I can't overlook the performances of my personal favorite, the Canadian Cade Smith. The Abbotsford, British Columbia, native is very hard to hit, and he looks like a man on a mission every time he takes the mound to close out a game.

The Rays will have to pull something out of their bag of tricks if they want to turn the tide that currently favors the Guardians.

Tonight, Nick Martinez (Rays) and Shawn Armstrong (Guardians) will be the starting pitchers in Game 4 of this series. Considered one of the best in his profession, Rays manager Kevin Cash will have to take matters into his own hands for his team.

So far, the small details that make the difference in a game have gone the Guardians' way, and had it not been for Jose Ramirez's unfortunate error during the Rays' only win, the Ohio team might also be in elimination mode.

The beauty of it all is that we still have plenty of great baseball to look forward to, making October, once again, the most exciting time of the year in the world of sports.
