Jason Maas sends a message to his defense

The Montreal Alouettes finally posted their first defensive performance of the season in which they held the opposition to under 20 points, and head coach Jason Maas was particularly pleased with the display.

Following a convincing 31–18 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the Montreal team now hopes to turn this strong performance into a new habit.

Despite some impressive statistics, including three quarterback sacks and an interception, Jason Maas believes the real factor behind this success lies in the attitude displayed by his players.

According to the head coach, his defensive players demonstrated superior intensity, a constant drive to pursue the ball, and a much more aggressive mindset on every play. For him, this collective energy was one of the main reasons the Montrealers were able to secure their sixth win in seven games this season.

“I really love the way our defense is playing right now. I'm seeing more players moving toward the ball with a genuine intention to make a difference,” explained Maas, who hopes to see this approach continue over the coming weeks.

The Alouettes' head coach also emphasizes the importance of daily work. For him, defensive success doesn't come solely during games, but rather from habits developed during practice.

The next opportunity to demonstrate this defensive improvement will come soon, as the Alouettes face the Ottawa Rouge et Noir on Friday night. The Ontario-based team, however, is off to a rough start to the season with six losses in as many games.

Even though the opponent's record is less than impressive, Jason Maas refuses to take this matchup lightly. The goal remains the same: to continue building a consistent and dominant team in all phases of the game.
