While the hostile offer made by the Anaheim Ducks to Leo Carlsson has reignited discussions about this rarely used strategy in the NHL, one thing seems clear in Connor Bedard's case: the young forward never intended to go down that path.

According to his agent, Don Meehan, the Chicago Blackhawks' star player had already made up his mind well before the Carlsson situation came to light.

“Connor made it clear, even after the hostile offer and before the hostile offer, that he had no intention of signing a hostile offer,” explained Meehan, a statement reported by Mark Lazerus of The Athletic.

This clarification is important as many fans and observers were wondering whether the arrival of a new wave of young star players could make offer sheets more common in the NHL.

With players like Bedard and Carlsson, some saw an opportunity for rival teams like the Canadiens to take a shot at them.
