Last night, the Rocket played their first playoff game in Cleveland, and it was Jacob Fowler in front of the net.

He looked good and should get his second start tomorrow night. Now, what will the CH organization do next?

As we know, Cayden Primeau and Jakub Dobes are eligible to return to Laval. We’re sure Primeau will return, but what about Dobes?

These questions were not answered by the Habs today, as no personnel changes were announced.

If Primeau returns to Laval, will he get his starting job back right away? Or will we want to leave the net to the goalie of the future in Jacob Fowler.

If the latter happens, it would be a frustrating situation for Primeau. After starting out in Montreal, he was traded to Laval, where he simply dominated. He was the best goaltender in the AHL, but had to come on in support of the big club when Montembeault got hurt.

He was the only healthy goalie in Laval eligible to help the CH.

That’s professional sports, unfortunately.

If I were in the shoes of CH management, I’d send Primeau to Laval, but I’d wait before giving him a start.

Wait for what? One or two of Fowler’s poor performances, if they come.

Primeau doesn’t seem to be part of the organization’s future plans, while Fowler is the goalie who should take the team to another level in a few years’ time, so the choice seems pretty straightforward.

Head coach Pascal Vincent may have a different opinion, as he wants to take his team as far as possible. Primeau has given him some very good field hockey this year.

In bursts

– He definitely could have helped New Jersey.

– The Stars can eliminate the Avalanche tonight.

– What a crazy game!
