This summer, Rasmus Dahlin took advantage of his vacation to visit France with his fiancée, but his trip almost turned into a nightmare too. His fiancée, Carolina, became ill during the trip, and subsequently suffered severe heart failure. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was given several times to keep her alive… and after several weeks in hospital, she had to have a heart transplant. What a story…

The good news in all this? Today, the defenseman's fiancée is doing better. In a lengthy message published by the Sabres, Dahlin says she's continuing her rehab and will join him in Buffalo when she's ready to do so.
She has shown incredible determination, courage, positive attitude and tenacity that impresses me. It was undoubtedly the most difficult chapter of our lives, but we learned a lot from it.

Jarnkrok talked about the frustration he felt dealing with his injuries and surgery last season – he also dealt with trade speculation all off-season – but he's healthy now and excited to get this season going. “I had a great summer, a lot of skating and workouts.” pic.twitter.com/WFZZW2wukK
