Cayden Primeau to start tonight
Yesterday, there were signs that Cayden Primeau would be the default goaltender for the Detroit game. Seeing him spend time with his goalie coach was a good one.

The fact that the CH is in the midst of a four-game week and that both regulars played on Tuesday also made it easy to give tonight’s game to Primeau.

It’s also the only road game of the week.

And now it’s been confirmed by Martin St-Louis: Cayden Primeau will be the goaltender for tonight’s game. No word yet on who will act as assistant, but it’s safe to assume it will be Samuel Montembeault.

This will be Primeau’s second game of the season. The first was on October 24, over two weeks ago, against the New Jersey Devils. The match was at home.

He scored four goals, but the CH didn’t show up in the second game of a back-to-back, if memory serves.

Jake Allen and Samuel Montembeault, in no particular order, will likely play Saturday and Sunday’s games against the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks,

And Casey DeSmith could be in the starting line-up on Sunday for Montreal-Vancouver

Of course, Martin St-Louis has to hope Primeau is good enough to win a game for the first time in five games. It’s important for the coach.

And Kent Hughes would also like to see him perform, for different reasons. It would give him market value in discussions with other teams, let’s face it.

Let’s also remember that Rafaël Harvey-Pinard and Jesse Ylönen trained in a practice that was intended for extras only. The regulars didn’t skate this morning.

See you at 7pm for the game.
