Combination drills: Connor Bedard in the top-10 only once
In just over two weeks, Connor Bedard will be drafted first overall by the Chicago Blackhawks. The young sensation had a phenomenal season in the WHL, with 143 points in 57 games.

He wasn’t able to help the Pats get past the first elimination round, but he did rack up 20 points in seven games.

While waiting for the draft, Bedard and the other prospects go through the drills of the combine to show NHL executives their athleticism.

Most of the general managers left Buffalo, but Kevyn Adams (Sabres), Doug Armstrong (Coyotes), Jarmo Kekalainen (Blue Jackets) and Mike Grier (Sharks) were still there. Kent Hughes left town on Thursday, but a few CH employees, including Martin Lapointe, were spotted.

While Leo Carlsson and Adam Fantilli didn’t work out (due to their participation in the World Championship), Bedard did, and only finished in the top-10 once. So he’s human.

He finished ninth in the Wingate, an exercise that involves giving it your all on a stationary bike.

To see the striker’s day in action, I invite you to watch the video below:

But just because he didn’t dominate the drills doesn’t mean he’ll be selected in the next draft. He’s the first to say, “He’s just another player.

I’m just another player, and I haven’t played in a month and a half. – Connor Bedard

Meanwhile, Canadian Nick Lardis dominates the combine. He’s North America’s 27th-best prospect, and I wonder if his performance at this event will boost his draft rank.
