As you may know, the KHL season always starts a few weeks before the NHL season.

The result? A prospect like Alexander Zharovsky, who's being closely watched by Canadiens fans, is already in training camp mode in his native Russia.

We imagine that after spending a good part of his summer in Montreal, he's eager to get back to playing in the KHL to show just how much he's improved.

But anyway. All this to say that now that training camps have begun, we're starting to get some clues about what might lie ahead for the player as the season approaches.

Of course, we have to take all of this with a grain of salt, since the early stages of camp are sometimes used for experimentation, but…

Still, it's worth noting that early in camp, Zharovsky is forming a line with two interesting players. We'll see if that lasts, as we've said.

Vadim Shipachev and Yegor Suchkov are his linemates.

Shipachev, as you may know, is the KHL's all-time points leader. He recently signed with Zharovsky's club, and people were wondering if they would play together.

We have the beginnings of an answer, at any rate.

The Russian has 892 points in 954 career games. Two major milestones are within his reach, and the Habs prospect could help him achieve them—which would be great.

Yegor Suchkov, for his part, finished fourth in scoring (33 points, including 15 goals) in Ufa last year, just behind Zharovsky—who had 42 points.

Suchkov is only 24 years old and will continue to develop alongside Zharovsky. So yes, for now, we can say that Zharovsky is in good company.

Pre-season games in Ufa will begin in six days. So we might have more clues about what lies ahead for the Habs' prospect in about a week.
