A few days ago, Kevin Gausman was traded from the Blue Jays to the Cubs. Many fans in Toronto weren't happy about it.
After all, the veteran was truly beloved in Toronto.
That said, his candor (he's always been outspoken) is already causing him to lose favor in Toronto just a few days after his departure.
We didn't think that was possible. Things can change quickly in the world of sports…
The guy who said he wanted to stay in Toronto and that winning elsewhere wouldn't be as special as winning in Toronto is clearly having a good time in Chicago.
Leaving Toronto has done him good—and that's perfectly normal.
But hearing him say that “the focus in Chicago is on baseball” didn't sit well with everyone in Canada, who took it as an insult.
And that's even though we all know that Wrigley Field is a stadium that breathes baseball.

Then, when he said his daughter liked the Cubs because they're a team that can beat the Dodgers, that also rubbed some fans the wrong way.
The wounds from the 2025 World Series haven't healed yet.
It's clear that Gausman, who praised the Cubs' team spirit just days after criticizing that of the Blue Jays, is happy to be in Chicago.
That's understandable.
But he needs to find the line between praising his new team and badmouthing his former organization, which he loved.
Because right now, he's alienating fans. And that's true even though I don't really think his goal is to sabotage the Blue Jays.
Gausman has been doing nothing but trashing the Jays since he left—even when he was still there. Good riddance, then.

There have been more and more examples of angry fans since yesterday. Gausman has nothing to gain by taking jabs at the Blue Jays.
Keep in mind that today, the Blue Jays and the Cubs will face off in Chicago in a game (which was postponed due to rain earlier this season)… but Gausman won't be pitching. He'll take the mound tomorrow in his new uniform.

- Enjoy the show.

- The Red Sox keep winning.
The Red Sox have won 9 consecutive series.
It's the second-longest streak in franchise history, surpassed only by the 11 straight series victories in 1912.
