In recent months, Vincent Trocheck's name has come up in a few rumors in Montreal.
But…
But according to Vincent Mercogliano (The Athletic), the Canadiens aren't necessarily among the teams currently in the running to acquire the center.
In fact, the reporter mentioned in a recent article that certain clubs are circling Trocheck… and that the Canadiens aren't one of them. Mercogliano also maintains that there have been no discussions between the Habs and the Rangers regarding a potential trade.
So should we rule out the Canadiens from this discussion?
Vincent Mercogliano: Regarding Vincent Trocheck: Others have emerged as potential suitors in recent weeks; the Canadiens are not one of them, according to a league source, who noted there has been no contact between the two clubs regarding Trocheck – The Athletic (6/12)

I get the impression that they are, personally.
Vincent Trocheck is a really good hockey player, and there's no doubt about that: we're talking about a 32-year-old veteran who's proven himself, who's capable of racking up around 60 points per season, and who's extremely reliable in all three zones of the ice.
But we're also talking about a guy who's 5'11” and 185 pounds—someone not necessarily known for his physical play. And the Canadiens, for their part, plan to bulk up for next season.
Let's just say that acquiring a small forward who isn't particularly physical wouldn't really fit with that goal…
There are other candidates on the market with a more appealing profile for a team like the Montreal Canadiens. The Canadiens want to add a top-6 winger AND a second-line center to their roster… and it'll be up to Kent Hughes to get creative to make that happen.
But clearly, we shouldn't get our hopes up too much about Trocheck… unless there's a surprise in store.

– Oh, really.
Bruce Garrioch: David Pagnotta…stated…that the club was trying to trade Jordan Spence. We're told that's not because the Senators were…disappointed with his play; it may have more to do with what his camp is seeking in a long-term extension – Ottawa Citizen (6/15)

– Makes sense.
According to sources, one player of interest to other clubs is RFA D Nemec, as his time with the @NJDevils
hasn't been entirely smooth, and he's an attractive option
given his age, talent, and upside, should the team decide to trade him. #HockeyX
