Series wrap-up: Oilers lose despite four goals from Leon Draisaitl
After wins for the Kraken and Panthers the night before last, the second round continued last night with duels between the Hurricanes and Devils, and the Golden Knights and Oilers.

Here are the highlights of the duels:

Oilers lose despite four goals from Leon Draisaitl

Like Joe Pavelski the day before yesterday, Leon Draisaitl scored four goals in Game 1 of the second-round series. And like Pavelski, Draisaitl’s team lost.

The German has 11 goals since the start of the playoffs. He has played only seven games…

Still, the Knights won 6-4.

After Draisaitl’s third goal, Vegas scored back-to-back goals and never looked back.

Bruce Cassidy’s team now leads the offensive series 1-0.

Game number two will be played Saturday, 7pm, at T-Mobile Arena.

Hurricanes dominate Devils in game one

Without Timo Meier and 48 hours after eliminating the Rangers, the Devils visited the Carolina Hurricanes.

Rod Brind’Amour’s team, who had been off for a few days already, started the game like lions, dominating their opponents.

Carolina defenseman Brett Pesce broke the ice with a shot from the point.

Then, Seth Jarvis doubled his team’s lead before the end of the period. He used his speed well on the sequence.

New Jersey finally ended the first period with a shot on goal. Total domination by the home team!

In the second, the Canes picked up where they left off in the first. Jesperi Kotkaniemi tripled the lead with his first goal of the playoffs. The goal also sent Akira Schmid out of the game.

The goalkeeper change obviously whipped Lindy Ruff’s troupe into action. Nathan Bastian reduced the gap to two goals.

Carolina held on, however, and eventually won the game 5-1.

They now lead the series 1-0, and the next meeting between the two teams will be played tomorrow, 8pm, at PNC Arena.
