When John Tortorella arrived in Philadelphia in 2022, he said that the title of Flyers head coach would be his last in the NHL. However, he's obviously changed his mind: he wants to come back. It's amazing how not leaving on your own terms can be a game-changer, andhe talked about it in an article with the NHL website. What's interesting is that Tortorella is aware that in 2025, a coach has to adapt. He has done so, for example, by accepting an assistant role with Team USA, andwas assistant to his former assistant, Mike Sullivan, at the Four Nations Confrontation.Torts wants to come back, but it won't be easy. Will he be able to find a position quickly? If he wants to stay in the game, he may have to do what others have done: take on a smaller role. Claude Julien (Saint-Louis' assistant) is a good example of this
John Tortorella didn't hesitate to praise his former player Martin St-Louis, who he believes will become a great coach. https://t.co/2eS6c3DK4X –

St-Louis knew Tortorella in Tampa Bay and they have a lot of respect for each other. They worked together in Columbus for a few months. Torts wants to stay in hockey and has proven he can work for someone who was once “under” him, which is a game-changer. Since the Habs don't have a payroll for personnel and the club has proven it's not afraid to add people to the organization chart, I wonder how much thought Martin St-Louis has put into it. Mind you: I'm not saying he'd take the place of an existing assistant or add himself behind the bench. I'm not saying it will happen, but I wonder if I'm the first one to have thought of it. After all, since November 2021, the Habs haven't been afraid to step outside the box when it comes to making decisions…
