An eccentric mimes oral sex on air to celebrate the Remparts’ victory

Last night, the Québec Remparts played a near-perfect game to claim the Memorial Cup. This brings to a close an exceptional season for the Remparts, who won everything there was to win.

Nothing less.

Because the Memorial Cup was won out west, in Kamloops, the Remparts celebrated on the road. That said, that didn’t stop Remparts fans from gathering in Quebec City.

At Place Jean-Béliveau, many Remparts fans watched the game and celebrated the victory of the crowd favorites.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen the passion of Quebec City fans, who were also out in force when the club won the QMJHL title in the Maritimes.

But even so, the NHL won’t be coming to Quebec City…

All this to say that last night was also a great night of celebration. The fans showed their passion, and some of them were even present early this morning when the club’s plane arrived.

In short, the Remparts have good fans.

The problem? During the celebrations on RDS, one rascal decided to have his five seconds of fame. He went in front of the station’s camera and imitated fellatio.

Despite all the fans celebrating as usual, he was the one who stood out. What a shame.

Marie-Christine Champagne, the journalist in front of the camera, still managed to keep control. Between the other distractions (which is normal after a championship) around her and this, she was very good.

François-Étienne Corbin rightly pointed this out yesterday. With good reason, you might say.

It’s a pity, because it gives bad press to the people of Quebec City, the vast majority of whom just wanted to celebrate an important achievement with dignity.

After all, the Memorial Cup has long belonged to the members of the Q.

In 2023, Quebec City won. In 2022, Saint John took top honours. In 2021 and 2020, there was no tournament due to the pandemic and related complications.

In 2019? The Huskies won. And in 2018, the Titan was crowned champion.

This is the first time a league has won four consecutive editions of the tournament, and you have to go back to 2017 (Windsor, OHL) to see a club from another league get their hands on the precious Canadian title.

Note that the QMJHL also won in 2011, 2012 and 2013: the Sea Dogs, Cataractes and Mooseheads were the champions in those years. That makes seven of the last 11 champions from here.

Note that Mario Pouliot has two rings (2018, 2019) in a row with two different teams as coach. In contrast, the entire WHL has had a ring since the 2009 edition of the tournament: the Oil Kings won in 2014.

No, Quebec and the Maritimes have nothing to envy anyone. Let’s hope the NHL teams realize that.
