Ethan Gauthier wouldn’t be surprised to be drafted by the Canadiens

When we talk about the Canadiens’ draft, we’re usually talking about the club’s first pick. Will the Habs be able to draft Will Smith or Leo Carlsson to add a center?

If not, will the GM push harder for Pierre-Luc Dubois?

And if not, is Zach Benson the logical option at #5? Would the CH go for Ryan Leonard? A David Reinbacher? A guy like Dalibor Dvorsky?

And Matvei Mich- ah pis laissez faire.

All that to say, we’re talking about these guys, not the 31st overall pick courtesy of the Florida Panthers in last year’s Ben Chiarot deal.

It’s understandable that we’re not talking about them as much. After all, the prospects are less well-known, there are more of them in the pool of available players and the drafted prospect will – theoretically – have less impact than the club’s future #5 pick.

But that doesn’t mean he won’t be a good prospect. On the contrary!

If the Habs decide to draft in Quebec, Ethan Gauthier is a name to remember. And I’m not the one saying that, since the main interested party says he wouldn’t be surprised to see the CH draft him.

Denis Gauthier’s son said it in an interview with Anthony Martineau.

And why? Because the Quebecer plays a robust style of play (like the Tkachuk brothers, who have obviously become a reference point), shines in the playoffs and has a connection with Flanelle management.

The CH really likes my intense style of play. I’m confident that Montreal will call me up if I’m still available. – Ethan Gauthier

The top-notch prospect, who joined the Drummondville Voltigeurs in recent days, is confident that a pairing with Josh Anderson could lead to success.

I don’t know what the Habs’ plans are in this regard, but clearly, it would be interesting to see if he would take the Habs’ direction should he become available at the right time.
