Alex Ovechkin has always done whatever he wanted. And the most notable time he fully embraced a game plan, it earned him a Stanley Cup ring.

Does he want to drink liquor during a game? Doesn't want to play defense? Wants to stand still during a power play? Wants to gain weight over the summer?

He'll do it. He's never held back from living life to the fullest.

But his approach works. Year in and year out, he stays healthy and scores in droves to help the Capitals win as many hockey games as possible. He's a fascinating case.

This summer, he also did exactly what he wanted. Did he want to make the Capitals wait until July to decide his future? That's exactly what happened—and he came back when it suited him.

But how much longer will he be around?

It's an interesting question. After all, he's 71 goals away from the 1,000-goal mark (a milestone he's interested in) in the NHL, and he's still capable of finding the back of the net.

He still sees himself playing for a while with the Capitals, as he said in an interview reported by the RMNB website. But above all, he sees himself finishing his career in Moscow, in the KHL.

He has often said that his last game would be for Dynamo, if he could do it. Does that mean just one game or a full season with his Russian club? Could he arrange to go to Russia whenever he wants to play just one game?

It's worth noting that he has no desire to play for another NHL team, which isn't surprising. His team in the Bettman league is the Capitals, and that's it.
