We knew that the Montreal Canadiens would face the Senators three times during their upcoming preseason schedule.
But the full schedule for those games hadn't been officially announced yet.
Now it's out.
Basically, the Canadiens will take on the Sens three times… and they'll also have two games scheduled against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Here are all the games that will be played:
- September 19 vs. the Leafs (in Montreal)
- September 19 vs. the Leafs (in Toronto)
- September 21 vs. the Sens (in Trois-Rivières)
- September 26 vs. the Sens (in Montreal)
- September 26 vs. the Sens (in Ottawa)
Basically, the Canadiens will play four games with a split roster, which is different from recent years. I don't mind the idea… even if it means there will only be one game with a lineup where all players are available.
The dates for our 2026–2027 preseason schedule have been announced!

I can't wait to see how this turns out.
We haven't necessarily seen this format in Montreal in recent years, and it's still interesting in a way because it's going to result in something… different.
That said, I wonder how these games will be handled for broadcasts. Will fans have to choose which game to watch if they're airing at the same time?
And as for the Habs… how will they divide the teams for the split-squad games?
That remains to be seen. But we can all agree we'll have other fish to fry in the meantime. There are still several major events ahead before training camp begins, and it starts tonight with the first round of the National League draft…

Did you know that top NHL draft prospect Caleb Malhotra is the nephew of NBA Hall of Famer Steve Nash?
