The end of the regular season is approaching.

Yesterday, six games were played across the National League. What caught our attention?

Let's take a look together:

1: The Golden Knights are unbeatable (or nearly so) with John Tortorella

The Vegas Golden Knights hosted the Seattle Kraken last night.

And with the score tied at 1-1, the Knights' players stepped up. Mitch Marner and Rielly Smith scored back-to-back goals, and the Kraken were never able to get back into the game:

The Knights ultimately won 4-1.

And with this win, they now have a record of… 7-0-1 since John Tortorella took over as head coach.

Clearly, the Knights seem to have made the right move. And I can't wait to see how this plays out in the playoffs…

2: The Wings… Ouch!

The Red Wings missed the playoffs again. The team had a disappointing end to the season and missed the cut… once again.

That said, the team played its final game of the season last night, and it went badly.

Really badly.

The Wings lost 8-1 to the Panthers (you read that right), and after the game, Todd McLellan was livid. He threw his players under the bus, saying he was embarrassed by their performance.

Yikes.

And rightly so, because this is truly the worst way to end a season.

The Red Wings didn't seem interested in playing and had clearly given up. Good thing the game wasn't in Detroit: imagine if Wings fans had paid to watch a game like that…

3: Connor Bedard ends his season on a high note

Connor Bedard is a good hockey player. He's progressing at his own pace and is slowly but surely becoming one of the top offensive players in the National Hockey League.

Plays like that can't be taught. And that's where you see just how talented he is:

Bedard beat his good friend Macklin Celebrini 5-2 and helped his team finish the season on a high note.

In 69 games this season, Bedard scored 30 goals and added 45 assists to his tally. He's still improving… and I can't wait to see him next season.

If only the Hawks could help him by surrounding him with the right support…

4: 30 goals for Nylander, but…

William Nylander took advantage of the Leafs' final game of the season to score his 30th goal of the season.

That makes it six seasons in a row with at least 30 goals.

He sure knows how to put it in, as they say.

But Nylander's goal turned out to be the Leafs' only moment of glory against the Sens.

Ottawa won 3-1… and the Leafs finally wrapped up their miserable season. The team finished the campaign in last place in the Atlantic Division and second-to-last in the East: let's just say it's a year to forget for the Leafs.

And things aren't necessarily looking any better for next year, unless artificial intelligence comes to the club's rescue… hehe.

5: Corey Perry isn't getting any younger

The Lightning hosted the Rangers for their final regular-season game.

And for the Blue Shirts, Gabriel Perreault (who's really on a roll) stood out by scoring a beautiful goal. Here it is:

The game was a bit lackluster because it had no bearing on the Eastern Conference standings.

That said, Corey Perry still decided to put on a good show for the fans in attendance in Tampa Bay. You don't see goals like this very often:

The Rangers won 4-2, and like the Leafs, their season won't go down in history.

They'd better bounce back in the Big Apple because expectations are always sky-high. But just like in Toronto, it's going to be tough… and it'll be interesting to see how the team responds next season.
