At last, the NHL regular season has begun. Here are the results and highlights from the three games:

1. 20th season together for Crosby, Letang and MalkinYesterday, the Penguins were in New York to take on the Rangers. That meant Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang were starting the season together, again. This is the 20th season in which all three have played at least one game together.

In a 3-0 victory, Evgeni Malkin made his mark with a superb pass on Justin Brazeau's first goal.

His first with the Penguins.

Brazeau followed up with a breakaway goal.

Dan Muse's first win in his first game behind an NHL bench.

Rangers coach Mike Sullivan suffered his first setback with his new team, against his old team, him.

2. Double champions make their entranceLate in the afternoon, the two-time defending champions the Florida Panthers made their entrance, taking on the Chicago Blackhawks and, for the occasion, raising their banner high above their arena.

The celebrations didn't last long, as as soon as the game started, the Blackhawks scored. Frank Nazar, who finished the game with a goal and an assist, scored the first goal of the 2025-2026 season.

Florida fought back, however, and the fourth line scored the second goal of the season.

At the mouth of the net, Carter Verhaeghe then gave the Panthers the lead.

What a shot in the top corner.

Final score: 3-2 Florida, making a successful entrance. The Stanley Cup is back on the market, though.

3. Nathan MacKinnon overtakes Joe SakicLate in the evening, the Kings hosted the Colorado Avalanche, but it was the visitors who came out on top, 4-1. A few weeks ago, we learned that Anze Kopitar was playing his last year in the Bettman circuit.

In his team's victory, Nathan MacKinnon picked up two assists, passing Joe Sakic for the most points in Avalanche history with 1016. His second assist was his 1017th point.

New season, same Cale Makar. On this sequence, he did everything for Artturi Lehkonen to score his first of the year.

Los Angeles scored their first goal of the night, but it was too little too late.
